Premium Chardonnay

While ordinary Chardonnays have the reputation for being “less than inspiring,” Piattelli Premium Chardonnay is bright, smooth, fruity, and adds a touch of oak to heighten dimension. This makes our Premium Chardonnay more interesting and an ideal match for mild cuisine where wine must be a flavorful, yet delicate companion.

VINIFICATION:

From shoot to shelf, Piattelli wine results from tireless personal oversight by winemaker Valeria Antolin and general director Gabriel Fidel. With consultant Roberto de la Mota and an expert staff, they constantly pursue vinicultural perfection.

  • Grapes were hand-picked and sorted
  • 20% fermented in French oak
  • 80% fermented in, 10,000-liter stainless steel tanks
  • Lees stirred for 30 days to enhance oak flavor

AGING: 20% of Piattelli Premium Chardonnay was barrel fermented for 6 months in small, second-use French-oak barrels and then bottle-aged an additional 5 months.

ANALYTICAL DATA:
13.5% Alcohol 3.80 pH
2.93 g/l Residual Sugar 2,000 Cases
5.14 g/l Total Acidity

TASTING NOTES:

Light gold in color, Premium Chardonnay's refreshing citrus, honey, and vanilla bouquet effortlessly transforms into a smooth, crisp flavor hinting at melon, creamed pineapple, and figs, which lingers with a fresh, youthful acidity and finishes with a faint hint of oak.

TUPUNGATO, WEST UCO VALLEY, MENDOZA:

  • Elevation: 3.937 feet
  • Sandy soil and drip irrigation optimize growing conditions
  • Water is irrigated from the Andes mountains
  • Warm dry days, cool nights maximize color and tannins
  • Arid environment minimizes common viticultural challenges
  • Torrontés grapes are grown on 20-year-old vines, which are managed to yield only 5.3 tons per acre
